H.E.A.R.T. - Helping Ease Abuse-related Traumaheartlogo_transparent

When you take the time to ask a child or a mother sitting in a waiting room after going through exams what they really need, they will tell you clean clothes, new underwear and shoes, a warm coat, blankets to help keep warm at night, a safe place to sleep, a new pair of glasses, a job, someone to read them a story, a book to read at night and a teddy bear to hold on to, food, a toothbrush and toothpaste, new school supplies so they don't fall farther behind, all the tangibles that they need to move their lives forward and succeed outside the doctor's office.

H.E.A.R.T. is VIP's membership circle, and our source for everything else that our clients need in order to survive and heal. It is a group of women who have made the choice to commit whatever resources they can each year to providing for victimized children and seniors and the people that are trying to keep them safe. The gifts made by members of H.E.A.R.T. are earmarked for direct client services and are not used for administrative overhead.

H.E.A.R.T. is led by an amazing volunteer advisory board who works with VIP staff to create impactful responses to the needs of the children and families at VIP.

Each year H.E.A.R.T. members help:
  • Organize drives to collect new stuffed animals and books for children in foster care.
  • Protect countless women and children from dangerous living situations and give them the resources to create more positive outcomes in their lives.
  • Participate in Volunteer Service Days like distributing new backpacks and school supplies to underserved children struggling to succeed.
  • Speak up for the work of VIP and the needs of child victims.
  • Host events to build a community of concerned advocates and raise funds to provide continued care and assistance.

H.E.A.R.T. is about more than just raising money. It is about creating community - a community of advocates who pool their creative talents to find ways to help victims and families. It is about doing just a little more for each child; it is about opening your heart. As a member, you will know that your gifts will be changing at least one child's life everyday.
