VIP has many ways for you to volunteer in our offices or in your own community, and change the life of a child for the better.

Caring for so many children and families is a big job and making sure our clients heal often takes a village.

And not everything our kids require is clinical; sometimes our kids need a positive adult role model or a caregiver needs child care while they meet with a therapist at VIP. This is where VIP’s amazing volunteers like you come in.

There are many ways you can volunteer and get involved:

Make a difference in the life of a child who has dealt with trauma by becoming a mentor. For many of our clients, a mentor becomes one of the few positive role models and sources of stability in their lives. As a mentor, you can help a child reach their potential, provide a supportive presence, and have some fun! Mentors walk away from their experience knowing that they have given their mentees the hope and confidence to move forward and live a healthy, happy life. Mentors must be at least 21 years old and commit to two outings a month and one phone call a week for one year.

Many of our caregivers often lack the time and/or resources to nurture their children’s academic success. Our tutors offer tutoring services to our kids, ages 4-18, in a variety of subject areas to ensure that they succeed in the classroom. Tutors must be at least 16 years old and commit to at least 1 hour per week that matches their assigned student’s schedule for at least 3 months. Tutors are placed with same student during the duration of their commitment.

We understand that it may be difficult for some of our families with young children to find child care to make their appointments at VIP. That is why VIP offers our families child care for children 0-5 years old to allow for their caregivers to attend our parent classes and workshops. Volunteers serve as childcare providers to the kids in our program providing them with fun activities. Child care volunteers must be at least 16 years old and commit to at least 1-2 hours per week for at least 10 weeks.

In addition to working with our kids, we often need volunteers to assist with ensuring the smooth operation of the agency. These activities can include, but are not limited to: sorting donations from time to time, such as articles of clothing, books, and other needed items to the agency; assisting with our special client events throughout the year, such as the Annual Holiday Party, Halloween Party, and Annual Back to School Event, by helping with set up, running arts and crafts tables, games, handing out snacks to clients, and clean up; and helping with general office work including data entry, filing, and making copies. There are no minimum time commitments as these activities occur year round; however, volunteers must still be at least 16 years old.

Ready to volunteer? There are just a few requirements:

  • Volunteers must be at least 16 years old or 21years old for mentoring
  • Pass a background check through Live Scan.
  • Had a TB test within the last 6 months.
  • Pass a drug test
  • Be reliable, responsible and trustworthy

Get Your Office Involved

VIP is always looking to collaborate with new corporate and professional partners. If you or your office wish to get involved and sponsor projects to help make an impact on the children we serve, we have a few options to get your business involved:

Your office can make significant impact on the children we serve by supporting VIP with in-kind professional skills and expertise. VIP is currently seeking energetic professional volunteers who are looking to take an active role in the areas of marketing, events coordination, graphic design, communications, social media, etc. Please contact the VIP Development Department to discuss potential opportunities.

In addition to our annual Back-to-School and Holiday Toy Drives, VIP is always looking for donations of new or very lightly used books, stuffed animals, and clothing. Organizing a drive in your office is a great way to come together as team for a common goal, while also having the added benefit of giving back to VIP! You’d be amazed at what your office can do if you work together! If you are interested in coordinating a drive in your office, please contact the VIP Development Department.

Double the impact of your gift! Many employers offer matching gift programs, which means that when you give an amount as an individual, the company then matches that donation (with very little work on your part!), effectively doubling or even tripling your original donation. Please check with your employer’s Human Resources department to see if they will match your donation to VIP!

Tour Our Children’s Medical Village
