At age nine, Irma was sexually assaulted by her stepfather. Her aunt brought her to our clinic severely injured both physically and emotionally. Surgery restored her to physical health, but it took two years of individual and mother-daughter therapy to rebuild her spirit. Our mentoring and tutoring programs have helped her to reenter school and have given her back much of her childhood and the things all children deserve.

The CVC examines 3,000 children like Irma every year. As the only program in Los Angeles County available 24 hours a day to law enforcement, social services and parents, the CVC is an important advocate for children in the arena of legal and social services.

The CVC is internationally acclaimed and has pioneered research and technology that is the standard of care for children around the world. In addition to around-the-clock medical services, the CVC provides multidisciplinary mental health services, case management, follow-up medical care and consultation to the courts.
