Year in Review
While the opening of the Forensic Urgent Care Center was a primary focus this year, there have been many exciting new developments for VIP. The determination and ingenuity of staff, community partners, and supporters has raised the bar and given us amazing new tools to best serve our clients.
Just a few of the highlights:
- The opening of the East San Gabriel Valley Medical HUB and the piloting of mental health/crisis intervention services.
- The Healthy Communities Initiative - an innovative and intuitive new communiyt-based model of assessing and controlling health concerns and risk factors.
- The growth of youth development/violence prevention services thanks to VIP's continued partnership with the City of Los Angeles' Gang Reduction Youth Development program.
- A growing number of volunteers helping support more educational programs aimed at the needs of VIP's client population.
- Launch of new evidence-based practices and programs like Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavorial Therapy.
- Back to School Day.
- The 25th Anniversary of Dr. Astrid Heger's first child abuse clinic at LAC+USC Medical Center - the seed that eventually grew into VIP.
Looking Ahead to the New Year
Dr. Heger has always led VIP by example, believing that there is no such thing as having "done enough" for a victim. VIP wants to make sure that those victims become survivors. VIP's doors will always be open to offer the medical and mental health care people need, but in order to surround them with the high level of comprehensive services and prevention programs we believe are key to a stronger, safer life we will continue to need your help and support.
Please consider a gift to VIP this holiday season or find out how you can impact the life of child in need.
