It is through the generosity of individuals, foundations, corporations and government agencies that the VIP has grown from a single child abuse center into a complete Family Advocacy Center serving victims of family violence and sexual assault. As we maintain the excellence of our program, we depend upon the support of those who share our concern and compassion for victims of violence.

SHOP AND DONATE
Raise money for VIP while shopping at Ralphs!  If you have a Ralphs Club Card and use it when you shop, you can also earn money for VIP!

GIVE A STUFFED ANIMAL TO A CHILD
Brand new stuffed animals are given throughout the year to children during their first visit for a medical and/or forensic exam due to allegations of abuse or neglect.  Used stuffed animals are not accepted.

CLOTHE A VICTIM OF VIOLENCE
Sexual assault victims often forego their clothing for the purpose of forensic evidence.  All sizes of new cotton underwear, socks and sweat suits/leisurewear are needed for children, teenagers and adults. While donations of used clothing are appreciated, VIP is not always able to accommodate these donations, so please call ahead to inquire.

CELEBRATE THE JOY OF READING AND WRITING
New and/or gently used books for children and teenagers are needed for VIP’s clinic waiting rooms and to share with youth who do not have books at home.  Writing journals are requested as they are used in mental health therapy with children and families.

DONATE A GIFT CARD
Grocery store, gas station, and Target gift cards (not exceeding $25 each) are distributed in crisis situations, i.e. a family fleeing domestic violence.  Target cards are also routinely used to help families purchase their children’s school uniforms.  Amusement park, movie theatre and restaurant gift cards are shared with volunteer mentors to help pay for activities with their child mentees.

If you have an item that you wish to donate that is not on this list, please contact the VIP Development Department (323) 226-2097. On a case by case basis, VIP may accept additional items depending on current client needs and storage availability.

If VIP cannot accept your donated item, suggestions will be provided of other non-profit organizations that may be able to accept your donation.

CONTRIBUTE YOUR TIME AND TALENT

What are your interests? Talents? The VIP may have a meaningful volunteer opportunity for you. Volunteers entertain child patients in the waiting room, help with office duties, welcome patients, assist with fundraising projects, tutor a child and a whole lot more! Rally together your family, friends and/or co-workers to do a volunteer project.
